England National Year of Reading

Not just a day, but a whole year.

“The National Year of Reading has announced a groundbreaking new initiative for libraries, the first national ‘Join A Library Day’ on Saturday 26th April 2008.

Supported by all libraries across England, the day is part of the National Year of Reading’s year-long campaign to encourage parents, children and young people to join their local library.

For the first time ever, the National Year of Reading and the Society of Chief Librarians have developed a universal library membership form – a simple form that can be used to join any library in England. The form will be distributed through a supplement in The Daily Mirror, through First News (the children’s newspaper) and through local and regional press. The membership form will also be available to download at www.yearofreading.org.uk.”
